Now, propped against the pillows with a half-read novel forgotten on her lap, she stretched her legs out and let her bare feet rest in the cool air. Her toes flexed lazily, the faint ache from hours of walking melting away. The left foot arched slightly, showing the smooth curve of her sole, while the right one pointed toward the ceiling, toes spreading like they were finally free to breathe. Small, barely noticeable calluses on the balls of her feet told the story of another long day—meetings, subway stairs, that impromptu walk through the park at lunch. But here, in the stillness, they looked peaceful, almost elegant in their natural imperfection. She smiled to herself, wiggling her toes. Tomorrow could wait. For now, there was only the warmth of the sheets, the distant hum of the city outside, and the simple pleasure of bare skin against fresh linen. A quiet ritual of unwinding, one tired step at a time.
